Moon Geun Young is the “Goddess of Fire” for New Drama

It’s confirmed! Moon Geun Young will be making a comeback with the drama “Goddess of Fire Jung-yi” in which she will play the titular role of Yoo Jung, who rises as the Joseon dynasty’s greatest and first female ceramic artist. Moon Geun Young was last seen in a sageuk five years ago in “Painter of the Wind” with Park Shin Yang and Moon Chae Won. She won SBS’ “Best Actor” award in 2008 for her role as the cross-dressing, famed painter Shin Yoon Bok.

The casting for the male lead is still unconfirmed as the latest reports put actor Lee Sang Yoon from the drama “My Daughter, Seoyoung” still looking over the role favorably.

In photos just released by Moon Geun Young’s agency, the actress is shown carefully learning how to mold the pottery in preparation for her role.

“Goddess of Fire Jung-yi” will be directed by Park Sung Soo who also helmed “Ruler of Your Own World.” It will be written by Kwon Soon Gyu whose previous projects include “Warrior Baek Dong Soo.” “Goddess of Fire Jung-yi” is slated to air on MBC after “Gu Family Book” in July.

Jang Ok Jung

This drama tells the story of Jang Ok Jung, known as Lady Jang Hee Bin, one of Korea’s best known royal concubines of the Joseon Dynasty and famous for her hunger for power and ruthless plotting. However, this drama will tell a completely new interpretation of the infamous royal concubine Lady Jang Hee Bin and show the story before she became concubine and how her involvement as a fashion designer and cosmetics-maker during that era. This drama will also highlight the love story between Jang Ok Jung and King Suk Jong.

At a high school entrance ceremony, high school student Kotoko Aihara (Honoka Miki), who isn't that smart, notices pretty boy Naoki Irie (Yuki Furukawa). She falls in love with him immediately. Kotoko initially doesn't express her feelings to him, but finally has a chance to tell him how she feels. Unfortunately, Naoki turns Kotoko down, saying "I don't like dumb women."

One day, Kotoko Aihara's house is severely damaged by an earthquake. Until the house is rebuilt, Kotoko Aihara and her father decide to live with her father's friend. When Kotoko Aihara moves to her new temporary house, she is surprised to learn that Naoki Irie lives there as well.
